New
Car versu Used Car.

This brings the
question of New versus used as the best
proposition.
Lets study used cars as it is likely your
first car will be one of these.
The big question is which one
?
Look very closely at why you need a car,
what you expect from this car, how well equipped you are to
look after it, how much you can afford in running
costs?
A typical first car buyer is a teenager,
as this is when a first issue drivers license can be obtained.
The following is to alert teenagers and their parents
.
Car Adverts in the various daily, weekly
and specialty printed media are quite good to get an idea of
what is available in the range that might be suitable for your
needs. It also gives some idea of price and
finances.
The internet is also another excellent
resource, which should not be overlooked.
Doing your homework before visiting any
Car dealers will help prevent you falling for the old trick
used by old hands on the gullible. “If you don’t take this car
now, you will miss out”.
Rubbish- there are plenty of cars like
that one and plenty of better and the possibility of cheaper
cars avail as well.
Small cars 1200c - 2000c are in good supply in
all areas and have been for many years. Remember these cars are
{ when they are in good order} capable of speeds far in excess
of the speed limit in most areas.
Don’t worry that your little car wont
keep up with the traffic.
Some of the New Car Dealers get cars in
that no one else knew where for sale. His can create the
opportunity to get a good one owner used car, not necessarily a
cheap car, but good value.
The advantage here is you can bring your
vehicle back for service and faults.
Keep an eye out for tricks, like $1 less
than a round figure. $9999 instead of
$10,000.
Two reasons-
1- It conditions your
mind to $9000 which it certainly is
not.
2- Sometimes the
warranty is good only above a certain round figure. Some
examples maybe a $2000 Car must have an guarantee from the
Dealer, but a $999 Car has no cover on at
all.
Check before you pay any money if this
situation comes up.
A new small car often
has none of
the pitfalls of a used car [ especially for inexperienced
buyers} although this is not always the case
.
A new car is just that, make the dealer
aware that you expect first class service for your car and from
the Dealer in exchange for your
goodwill.
You are his best advertisement
.
